Burial or cremation?

Burial or cremation?

Burial

If you have chosen burial, you will need to let us know if there is an existing grave, or if one must be purchased. If there is an existing grave, then we will need to know the owner’s details, and whether the existing headstone will need to be removed. We will also need to know if you would like a temporary grave marker.

When choosing a final resting place, it is important to remember that churchyards tend to be very limited for space and many only allow the burial or parishioners. If the departed is not a resident in the parish, then even if they can be interred in the cemetery, there may well be significantly higher fees. It is essential to consider this before instructing us to proceed.

Cremation

If you have chosen cremation, we will need to know if you wish for the ashes to be scattered at the crematorium or if you wish to collect them for private scattering. If you wish the deceased to be cremated at one crematorium but have their ashes interred or scattered at another, there may be fees involved for the transportation of the remains.

There are many other points to consider, whether you choose burial or cremation, but we will be happy to talk you through your options so that you can make the decision that is right for your loved one, and for the family.
