Firstly, remember that you don't have to do this alone. You can call G Gamble & Sons 24 hours a day on 01509 415415.

There are many things to consider. It will help you with the arrangements to have the details of the deceased ready, including their age, home address, marital status, occupation and GP's name, as well as the date and place of death. Other questions to consider include:

Where you would like the funeral to be held?
Are you arranging a burial/cremation, and where you would like this to be?
Is there a minister or celebrant that you wish to use?
Which hymns and music you would like during the service?
Do you require printed service sheets?
What address is the funeral party to leave from?
How many cars do you require for the funeral party?
Would you prefer to use our bearers or your own?
Should the funeral party return to the same address or a different venue?
What type of coffin you would like? Please contact us to see what we can provide if you are unsure.
Would you like the deceased to wear a funeral robe or their own clothes?
Do you wish to visit your loved one in the Chapel of Rest?
Do you want us to publish an obituary notice or an acknowledgement notice?
Would you like the jewellery that the deceased is wearing to be kept on or taken off and handed back to the family?
What kind of floral tributes would you like? For example, a bouquet, coffin spray, letters, etc.
Would you like us to provide funeral attendance cards?

During such an awful time, G Gamble & Sons made the process of arranging my father’s funeral as stress free as possible. Also, the florist they used for the funeral flowers was amazing - they were beautiful and everything we could have asked for. Caring, friendly and professional service at it's old fashioned best.

I now know the team at G Gamble (Quorn) very well. Over recent weeks they have arranged the funeral for my best mate and more recently helped me to say farewell to my partner of 20 years. I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to cope with two funerals in quick succession without their assistance, understanding, professionalism and gentle humour when needed. Jane, Ben and Richard were my closest of allies throughout and I feel I have become friends - even if, for good reason, I plainly admit to not wanting to see them again. They were all so caring but remained pragmatic and patient, whilst accepting and adapting to my specific wishes and ideas. I really couldn't recommend them highly enough. And thanks muchly for the numerous cups of tea.

If you want commitment, empathy, sensitivity and respect for yourself and your loved one then this is the company for you. John Maltby is ably at the helm and leads the team; we had Andy to look after us who was just fantastic in every way. He made sure we were happy every step of the way leading up to the funeral and on the day he led the way quietly and confidently. They made a terribly sad time more bearable and I thoroughly recommend the team.

Excellent service and care

We received outstanding service during the lead up to and on the day of my Grandads funeral. Ben, who helped with the planning of the funeral answered all of our queries efficiently and with care. They are all amazing so kind caring and compassionate they gave me a five star service. Steeped in tradition, a genuinely independent family firm whose people do this as their vocation in life.
I visited almost all of the funeral directors in the Loughborough and surrounding areas before deciding that this was by far the best. Every other, whilst nice, felt impersonal. This place, tucked away in peaceful Quorn is a little slice of history. As good as their words, the personal service, their deference to the departed and care throughout with everything was second to none. They helped me deliver an outstanding farewell service, going absolutely above and beyond any usual expectations, whilst always being mindful of the costs throughout. (After initially investigating these were also found to be cheaper than the large chains.)
My utter heartfelt gratitude to Ben, John and absolutely everyone there, for carrying me through such a devastating time, no one could have done it better!

Stunning service from Ben and the team.

From the first call until the day of the funeral for my Grandma, Ben was amazing, offering the most comforting, assured service. His attention to detail and listening to what we wanted was perfect. He offered suggestions about things we hadn’t considered but also worked with us to get the service Grandma would have wanted. My family are all extremely pleased and my Grandma was respected and she had all her wishes met. The costs are all transparent and offer good value for money. Ben you should be very proud of yourself. You showed us such compassion and empathy, something you would imagine takes decades to get right but you obviously have it built into your soul and showed a level of service and maturity beyond measure.
